Yoga in Woodberry and Hampden: two different ways to build a routine

Compare a community yoga studio with a climbing-gym setting, and plan the details that make a repeat visit easier.

By Yoga Baltimore · September 10, 2026 · Based on published studio information

Choose the experience you want to repeat

Woodberry and Hampden offer two useful starting points with different settings. Yoga Union is a community yoga studio on Union Avenue. Movement Hampden combines a yoga offering with climbing and fitness. Neither setting is automatically better; the choice depends on what you want your visit to include.

If yoga is the whole reason for the trip, compare the breadth of the studio’s schedule. If you already climb or want a broader fitness routine, compare the gym’s access terms and yoga timetable. Do not assume a gym membership is better value unless you will actually use the additional activities.

Give arrival its own place in the plan

Yoga Union publishes detailed parking instructions and identifies the nearby Woodberry Light Rail stop. Read those directions before your first visit, especially if you usually navigate by a saved map pin. Check the return journey too if you are attending an evening class.

For Movement Hampden, confirm the current entrance directly before setting out. Its main website includes conflicting address references at the time of our review. The linked official yoga page is the right place to start checking the class itself.

Compare the same kind of class

Put two actual sessions side by side: day, start time, format, duration, and total entry cost. A restorative class at one venue and a flowing class at another are different products, even when both appear under “yoga.” Ask about mat access and whether advance registration is required.

Then test your routine on a normal weekday. A class that works during a free Saturday may not fit the rest of your week. Build a realistic arrival buffer and decide whether you want a quick class or a longer visit that includes other activities.

A simple first-week plan

Choose one class at one venue. Save the booking confirmation and entrance information. After attending, write down what you liked and what you would change. For your second visit, change only one thing, such as the teacher or time slot, so you can tell what makes the experience fit.
