Choose the training level before comparing tuition
Checked October 6, 2026. A 200-hour course is a foundational teacher-training pathway; a 300-hour program generally builds on prior 200-hour training. Do not choose an advanced program just because its schedule is convenient. Ask whether your existing certificate satisfies the school’s prerequisite and what credential the full pathway supports.
Think about your purpose: teaching group classes, expanding an existing teaching practice, or studying yoga more deeply. Request a syllabus and a sample training day. Useful questions concern supervised teaching, feedback, assessment, consent around assists, and how the school supports students who need different ways to participate. Compare the amount of observed teaching with the amount of independent reading, rather than treating total hours as the whole story.
BambooMoves: a verified 2027 Baltimore City option
BambooMoves lists its 200-hour Road to Yoga training in Locust Point for January 8–April 25, 2027, over eight Friday–Sunday weekends. Published hours are Friday 5:30–8:30 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 7 a.m.–5 p.m. This is a substantial weekend commitment; allow for study and travel around it.
The page lists a $50 nonrefundable application fee, $3,000 tuition if paid in full by November 8, 2026, and a $3,500 standard price. A second early-bird deadline contains an inconsistent year, so get that tier confirmed rather than relying on it. Ask whether the application payment is credited toward tuition and request the current refund terms.
Aluma: an October 2026 start north of Baltimore
Aluma lists an in-person 200-hour course beginning October 23, 2026, with selected weekends and Wednesday evenings through February 2027. Training locations include Cockeysville and the Falls Road/Mt. Washington area; confirm where each meeting takes place.
Published tuition is $3,400, with final payment due October 9, 2026. Books cost extra and credit-card payments add 3%. The page lists a $600 reservation deposit but refers to $500 in its fine print. Get the deposit and cancellation terms clarified in writing. It also lists $150 per hour for missed-time makeups, so compare your calendar with every required meeting before paying.
Yoga Union: separate the current and next cohorts
Yoga Union’s Woodberry 300-hour cohort began September 18–20, 2026, and its published schedule runs through July 2027, with additional final-project slots afterward. It requires completed 200-hour training and combines monthly weekend meetings with required study halls. This is an underway cohort, not a verified new intake; do not assume late entry is possible.
The 200-hour page names September 2027 as the next start and also displays a sold-out notice. It describes one Friday–Sunday weekend monthly over eight months. Ask which cohort that notice covers and whether a waitlist is available. No current tuition figure was verified on that page.
Sankofa in Laurel: a regional waitlist option
Sankofa’s 200-hour program lists a virtual orientation on November 8, 2026, then nine in-person Thursday–Sunday intensives from November 12–15 through July 8–11, 2027. Laurel is a regional alternative south of Baltimore, so factor repeated evening and weekend travel into the decision.
The official page explicitly says spaces are filled and directs applicants to a waiting list. Published tuition is $3,300, with a stated 10% discount for full payment by October 12, 2026. These terms do not establish that a seat can be purchased. Ask how pricing works if a waitlist place opens later.
Understand the credential and the full commitment
A school’s completion certificate and Yoga Alliance registration are different steps. Yoga Alliance describes its registry as voluntary: graduates of qualifying programs apply for a Registered Yoga Teacher credential and maintain it through the organization’s requirements. Registration is not a government teaching license or permission to practice a licensed healthcare profession.
Before enrolling, ask for an itemized budget covering tuition, books, required classes, makeup sessions, registration fees, insurance, and travel where applicable. Ask about the refund deadline, withdrawal process, payment-plan obligations, and whether training depends on minimum enrollment. A teaching audition or graduate mentoring program is useful support, but neither course completion nor registry membership guarantees a paid teaching job.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 200 and 300 hours?
A 200-hour program provides foundational study. A 300-hour program is advanced study usually requiring prior 200-hour training; verify each school’s eligibility rules and the resulting credential pathway.
Which listed programs have future starts?
BambooMoves lists January 2027 and Aluma October 2026. Sankofa’s November 2026 cohort is sold out. Yoga Union names September 2027 for its next 200-hour cohort, with availability needing clarification.
Can I join Yoga Union’s 300-hour course now?
Its September 2026 cohort has already started. The published calendar does not establish late admission. Ask the school directly about eligibility and its next intake.
Does graduation automatically make me an RYT?
No. Yoga Alliance describes a separate application using your training certificate, plus any additional credential requirements. Check the school’s current registration and your intended pathway before enrolling.
Will training guarantee a teaching job?
No. Ask about supervised teaching and graduate support, then investigate the hiring requirements of places where you hope to teach. Avoid budgeting around unconfirmed future teaching income.
